Lockdown single No.1: Community Garden
During the first great lockdown of 2020, I was invited to perform in the Treehouse Festival online edition. So I decided to make it extra special by reuniting the Treehouse band for a few lockdown videos.
The Treehouse band came together in an epic fashion for one night only in the Treehouse Festival of summer 2019. I arrived in the festival alone, somewhere in the countryside between Oxford and Bristol, with no bandmates. So I was very happy when my friends Ernie and Luke showed up! I know these two from gigging at Biddle Bros in London. I asked if they'd like to accompany me for my set, and they agreed. I said, "we still need to find a drummer". The band on before us where a jazz-rock trio fro Newcastle called A Horse Named Gring0. I asked them if they'd like to stay on for one more set, and so the Worldwide Welshman Treehouse Band was born!
The first lockdown recording features the additional voices of Hannah Boer in Amsterdam, Alice Morita & Sam Pascall in London, and my sister Ciara Rickard here in Wales. It's a crowd favourite, and I changed the words a bit to fit the situation ;)

Lockdown single No. 2: Easy To Be Happy
For the next track I decided to go all out! So, inspired by Viral Sessions, and Max Christensen's lockdown video, I opened it up to the Ethno-World community and beyond.I received audio-visual contributions from Wales, England, Germany, Belgium, India, Sengal, Australia, Malawi and Algeria.
I've decided that at least 50% of money from these singles will go to Practical Action. This was meant to be time-limited, but we might as well continue it forever! So grab your digital copies here. I will transfer the cash to the charity when I check my bandcamp statement. Alternatively, you can download them for free and give the money directly to the charity on their website if you like.
The reasons for this are a) this charity is ace, and b) these musicians did this for free, so I would like NOT to profit off them, and therefore, to give at least 50% of takings to charity (I'll probably just give the whole lot tbh). The takings are peanuts anyway. Probably no one will ever read this except my mum!
